Best GST billing software in India (2026): 6 options compared

Six billing apps Indian shops actually use, compared on what matters at the counter: price, platforms, offline billing and who each one is really for.

Disclosure: we make Go2, one of the six. So that this page stays useful, every competitor price links to that vendor's own pricing page (checked 24 October 2026), and Go2's weak spots are listed next to its strengths.

Short answer: choose by how you bill. Go2 for shops with several counters or patchy internet (fully offline, counters sync over local Wi-Fi). Vyapar for the cheapest start (free mobile plan). myBillBook for mobile invoicing with an online store. TallyPrime when your CA keeps the books. Marg ERP for pharma and distribution. Zoho Invoice if you only send invoices and want ₹0 software.

1. Go2 — best for multi-counter shops and unreliable internet

Go2 is a GST billing and POS suite of four apps that share one set of data: Go2 Desktop (Windows and Mac), Go2 Android (Android 5.0 and up), Go2 Offline (every feature works with no internet, and counters sync over local Wi-Fi or LAN) and the Go2 Owner App (live sales from every counter on the owner's phone).

Watch out for: Go2 is newer and smaller than Vyapar or Tally (100+ businesses), and prices are not published — you get a quote on WhatsApp after the free trial.

2. Vyapar — best for a free start on mobile

Vyapar is one of India's most widely used billing apps (the company says over 1.5 crore businesses). It runs on Android, iOS, Windows and Mac, bills offline and syncs through the cloud when you reconnect.

Price: a free mobile plan; paid plans unlock desktop billing and advanced features, up to Platinum at ₹9,999 a year on Vyapar's site. Smaller plans are sold through resellers at varying prices.

Watch out for: the free plan is for mobile — billing from a PC and advanced features need a paid plan.

3. myBillBook — best for mobile invoicing with an online store

myBillBook covers invoicing, inventory and a simple online store on Android, iOS and the web.

Price: Plus ₹3,490 a year (one business, one user plus your CA, online store, barcodes); Pro ₹3,990 a year (adds the desktop app); Pro Max from ₹570 a month billed yearly (more businesses and users, e-invoicing, POS billing, Tally export).

Watch out for: the desktop app starts on Pro, and POS billing and e-invoicing are on the top plan.

4. TallyPrime — best when your accountant runs the books

TallyPrime is the accounting software most Indian CAs know. It is Windows desktop software, works without internet, and covers GST returns, e-invoices and e-way bills.

Price (plus 18% GST): Silver for a single PC is ₹750 a month, ₹8,100 for 12 months or ₹22,500 lifetime; Gold for multiple users is ₹24,300 for 12 months or ₹67,500 lifetime.

Watch out for: it is built around accounting vouchers, so busy retail counters often pair it with a dedicated POS — see Go2 vs TallyPrime.

5. Marg ERP — best for pharma retail and distribution

Marg ERP is widely used by chemists, pharma distributors and FMCG wholesalers, with batch and expiry tracking at its core.

Price (plus 18% GST): Nano ₹5,550 (up to 2 users), Basic ₹10,300, Silver ₹13,900, Gold ₹26,000 (unlimited users). Extra users on smaller editions cost ₹3,000 each.

Watch out for: the core ERP is Windows desktop software with a dense interface that takes training.

6. Zoho Invoice — best free option if you only send invoices

Zoho says Zoho Invoice is “free for all Indian businesses, forever”. It creates GST invoices and quotes, sends payment reminders and runs on the web, Android and iOS.

Watch out for: it is an invoicing tool, not counter POS — stock tracking lives in Zoho's paid Inventory and Books apps, and it needs internet.

How to choose for your business

  • Kirana or grocery, one counter: a free mobile plan (Vyapar) or Go2 Android — see kirana billing.
  • Supermarket or 2+ counters: Go2, whose counters keep stock in sync over LAN even with no internet — see retail billing.
  • Pharmacy: Marg ERP or Go2's pharmacy billing with batch, expiry and per-medicine GST.
  • Restaurant or café: a POS with KOT and table management — see Go2 restaurant POS.
  • Services and freelancers: Zoho Invoice (free) or Go2's service-centre billing for job cards and quotations.
  • Accountant files your GST from Tally: keep TallyPrime for the books; bill at the counter in Go2 and export to Tally.

FAQ

Which is the best free billing software in India?

Zoho Invoice is free for Indian businesses with no paid tier for invoicing. Vyapar has a free mobile plan, with paid plans for desktop and advanced features. Go2 offers a 7-day free trial with every feature unlocked.

Which billing software works without internet?

Go2 Offline runs every feature with no internet and keeps several counters in sync over local Wi-Fi or LAN. Vyapar bills offline and syncs when you reconnect. TallyPrime and Marg ERP are Windows desktop software that work offline. Zoho Invoice is cloud-based and needs internet.

Is billing software mandatory for GST?

No law requires software as such, but GST-registered businesses must issue tax invoices with prescribed details (GSTIN, HSN/SAC codes, tax breakup), and businesses with aggregate turnover above ₹5 crore must generate e-invoices through the Invoice Registration Portal, which in practice needs software.

How much does billing software cost in India?

From ₹0 (Zoho Invoice, Vyapar's free mobile plan) to ₹3,490–₹3,990 a year for myBillBook's Plus and Pro plans, ₹9,999 a year for Vyapar Platinum, and ₹22,500 for a lifetime TallyPrime Silver licence plus GST. Multi-user desktop editions cost more: TallyPrime Gold is ₹67,500 lifetime and Marg ERP Gold ₹26,000, both plus GST.

What is the best billing software for a small shop?

For one counter and a tight budget, start with a free mobile plan such as Vyapar's. If you have two or more counters, unreliable internet, or want to see sales from home, Go2 is built for that: counters sync over the shop's own Wi-Fi and the Go2 Owner App shows live sales.
